Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to burn injuries: a) On or about September 21, 2010 and times prior, an employee operating a steam kettle was injured when the steam kettle failed causing the inner jacket to separate from the lower base of the unit. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that maintenance of the equipment is performed per manufacturer's instructions. Abatement Verification: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification

Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that employees are trained regarding the hazards associated with not wearing seat belts and to implement an active, effective enforcement policy. Abatement Verification: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
