a)In the manufacturing area of the facility: On 9 September 2009
and at times prior to: the employer failed to ensure that
compressed air was contained and transported throughout the
facility in piping of sufficient strength to protect employees.
Compressed air was provided throughout the facility in PVC
piping at 105 PSI and employees were exposed to eye and face
injury due to degradation and failure of the pipe.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is: Replace
the PVC piping used to store and transport the compressed air with piping
of suitable design.
