North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)gluing/spaying area, employees working in the gluing/spraying area used spray guns to apply Whisper Spray Adhesive 1550 to foam cushion pieces to make furniture cushions; air monitoring results revealed employee exposures as follows: 1.On August 17, 2009, employee A was exposed to 1-Bromopropane levels at an average concentration level of 31.58 parts per million (ppm). This exposure level was derived from two samples taken over a total of 513 minutes in the sampling period; NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to provide an improved ventilation system that would reduce the exposure level to below 25 parts per million, the current manufacturer's recommended exposure level, as indicated on the Material Safety Data Sheet provided to NCDOL by Catawba Valley Fabrication, Inc.
