Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that:
a)  On or about 4/20/10, employer failed to adequately inspect and
maintain the
automotive lifts in the garage. Several of the lifts had evidence of
hydraulic fluid leakage
and more specifically the Mohawk A-7 lift (S/N 90101628) had two loose
floor bolts on
one of the posts and both safety locks on the Mohawk A-7 lift (S/N
90061060) were
inoperable.
ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
ABATEMENT NOTE:  Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to
abate these hazards is for the employer to establish, implement and
maintain an
inspection and preventive maintenance schedule per the information
provided by the
manufacturer, Mohawk Lifts, and the guidance provided by ANSI/ALOIM-2000
Automotive Lift Institute standards.
