Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that the below the hook lifting devices such as the ladles and the tongs are not marked as to their lifting capacities exposing employees to metals splashes: a.BecoTek Mfg., Inc. located in Lorain, Ohio: On or about February 9, 2011, the employer did not ensure the pouring ladles used to pour molten brass in the melt department were marked as to their lifting capacities. b.BecoTek Mfg., Inc. located in Lorain, Ohio: On or about February 9, 2011, the employer did not ensure the tongs used to remove 600 pound brass castings from the spin casters located in the melt department were marked as to their lifting capacities. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to mark the lifting devices with their load ratings in accordance with ASME B30.20- 2006 "Below the Hook Lifting Devices" No additional abatement information is needed for this item.
