Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of1970: The employer did not furnish employmentand a place of employment wich were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employees were exposed to the hazards associated with operating riding lawn mowers on slopes in excess of ten (10) degrees without a roll over protection system: Jobsite: Various locations about the golf course. Employees were exposed to serious injury or death while operating two Jacobsen AR3 riding lawn mowers that were operated on slopes in excess of ten (10) degrees from horizontal where roll over protection systems (ROPS) had not been installed. One method of abatement, among others, would be to equip the mowers with the (ROPS) kit which is available from the manufacturer.
