North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to electrical hazards while living in a temporary labor camp: a) Temporary labor camp located at 139 Lamb Mountain Road, Edneyville, NC- one dwelling was being occupied by one migrant farm worker and four permanent employees while the following electrical hazards were present: Exposed, energized electrical wire above bed in small bedroom. Uncovered electrical outlet in small bedroom. Exposed and spliced wires powering hood vent over oven. Exposed electrical components of microwave in kitchen. Unprotected, energized electrical wires running from the inside of the house to the exterior and across to power a light fixture and electrical outlet in a shed. Uncovered electrical outlet in the shed, exposed electrical wires in the light fixture of the shed. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among others, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to ensure that all electrical wiring meets local building code, National Electrical Code standards.
