Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: On May 12, 2010 at the tower number eight of balneario de Carolina the (Departamento de Recreacion y Deportes) it was observed that lifeguards were exposed to protruding nails of a window/door. The entrance to this tower was composed of three doors. There was a window/door attached to the horizontal component of the doors frames. This window/door occupying the upper part of this access had to be swung up and held by a rope. The other two doors were attached by hinges to the lateral doors frames. This doors opened horizontally and in opposing directions. The lower part of the so called window/door, had twelve protruding nails. This windows door had be opened or closed by employees. Hazard: Protuding nails. One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is constant maintenance to prevent deterioration of the towers. El 12 de mayo del 2010 en la torre numero ocho del balneario de Carolina (Departamento de Recreacion y Deportes) se observo que los salvavidas estaban expuestos a clavos de la ventana/puerta. La entrada de esa torre se compone de tres puertas. Esta puerta/ventana se encontraba horizontalmente con respecto a los marcos de las puertas. Esta marco/ventana que ocupa la parte superior de este acceso tenia que girarse hacia arriba y sostenerse de una cuerda. Las otras dos puertas estaban unidas a los marcos de la puerta lateralmente. Estas puertas habrian horizontalmente en direcciones opuestas. La parte inferior de la ventana puerta tenia doce clavos sobresalientes. Esta puerta/ventana puede abrirse o cerrarse por los empleados. Un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo, es mantenimiento constante para evitar el deterioro de las torres. Riesgo: Clavos salientes.
