Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. The employer failed to furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: The employer failed to ensure his employee maintained a firm footing on the platform floor of a scissor lift, as follows: a.At the Wallace Transportation Bus Yard, automatic bus wash repair activities, Employee #1 was exposed to a 14 foot, 10 inch fall from the top of the bus wash to the concrete surface below while climbing out of a scissor lift to access the top of the bus wash. Employee #1 was working to repair damaged hoses that were located in small compartments - complicating any access to them when approaching the hoses from the platform floor of the scissor lift. Reference: Genie GS-2632 Operator's Manual Safety Rules Section, Page 5, Fall Hazards: Do not sit, stand or climb on the platform guard rails. Maintain a firm footing on the platform floor at all times. One feasible means of abatement would be to use the proper elevating equipment when accessing hard to reach areas of the bus wash.
