Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The

recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to a fall hazard when using a manual manlift to access the
head pulley floor of the
inside grain leg.
a) At the time of the inspection, the manual manlift was used to access
the upper levels
of the feed mill. The company had no records of any inspections of the
lift. There was no weight
limit posted on the lift.
Abatement of the hazard would include the inspection and posting
requirements found in ASME
A17.1-2004 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators.
Abatement verification is required for this violation. The abatement
certification sheet is
enclosed with the citation.
