Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely feet above the ground, and did not have stable and secure footing while performing a tree felling operation. Among other feasible methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to assure employees operating chain saw equipment have stable and secure footing and never work from ladders while using chain saw equipment as referenced by ANSI B 175.1-2000 Gasoline-Powered Chain Saws-Safety Requirements and Stihl Chain Saw Safety Manual, Respectively. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.

Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:11/14/09 Condition:An employee was not trained in the safe operation, and/or use of equipment, and safety related work practices prior to tree felling operation. Among other feasible methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train employees, regarding the safe operation and use of chainsaw equipment, including safety related work practices prior to engaging in tree felling operations as established in ANSI B 175.1-2000 Gasolene-Powered Chain Saws-Safety Requirements, the Stihl Chain Saw Safety Manual, and 1910.266(i). Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
