Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
Health services authorized for use were located in Metro Santurce Inc DBA
Hospital
Pavia. The employees offered surveillance in the following parking lots:
1- parking
located on the highway Avelino Vicente, front SJ MRI. 2- parking located
in the
Republic street front the express Jos/ de Diego. The employees had
restrictions
on the
use of health sanitary facilities were at a distance of approximately 8-12
minutes walking
or 479 feet of each parking lot, from the area where they worked. In
addition to having
restrictions have access to the toilet, because they had to wait until
another person relieve
them from the post before they could go to the bathroom. In some occasions
they waited
over 20 minutes before they were relieve.
Hazard: Adverse health effects due, to prolonged delay and urine and feces
retention
Among other methods, one feasible and aceptable method to correct this
hazard is to
place a toilet near the guard booth.
Los servicios sanitarios autorizados para su uso estaban ubicados en Metro
Santurce Inc
HNC Hospital Pavia. Los empleados ofrecian vigilancia en los siguientes
estacionamientos: 1- estacionamiento ubicado en la carretera Avelino
Vicente, frente a
SJ MRI. 2- estacionamiento ubicado en la calle Republica frente a expreso
Jos/ de
Diego. Los empleados tenian restricciones para el uso de los sanitarios,
las facilidades
sanitarias estaban a una distancia aproximada de 8-12 minutos caminando o
479 pies de
distancia de cada estacionamiento, del area donde trabajaban. En adicion
de tener
restricciones de acceso al servicio sanitario, debido a que tenian que
esperar que otra
persona los relevaran en el puesto antes de poder ir al bano. En algunas
ocasiones ellos
tuvieron que esperar sobre 20 minutos antes de que fuesen relevados.
Riesgo: Efectos adversos para la salud debido, al retraso prolongado
retencion de orina
y desperdicios fecales.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es colocar
un servicio sanitario cercano a las casetas de los guardias.
