Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that the
employees were exposed to the hazard of being burned by a flash fire.

Springs, Fl. 34135
Employees were exposed to being burned from a flash fire when flammable
gases and/or
vapors were ignited during a demonstration of a fluid level radar
transmitter, on or about
11/05/09.
Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement would be to:
1. In order to prevent explosions and/or employee overexposures,
monitoring must be done with a calibrated, direct reading instrument for
the presence of flammable gases and vapors after the opening of sewer
valves and prior to and during the demonstration and use of non-
intrinsically safe equipment such as but not limited to fluid level radar
transmitters.
2. Continuous forced air ventilation is to be used prior to the use of non-
intrinsically safe equipment such as but not limited to fluid level radar
transmitters if the presence of flammable gas or vapor is detected.
