Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: At jobsite 14130 W. 70th St. N., Colwich, KS: An employee engaged in sheathing and/or decking installation activities while standing on the forks of a New Holland LS180 Skid-Steer were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 9 feet from the forks to the ground below in that personnel were allowed to work while standing on the attachment. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: Obtain and use an engineered man-lift when installing sheathing and/or decking. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
