employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees:

Condition:Employees were exposed to being struck by/crushed by overturning
animal storage
racks, weighing approximately 750 to 1100 pounds, as a result of the
rack's not having
adequate base to height ratios.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to either increase the base
dimensions of the racks by the installation of outriggers, or diminish the
height of the racks by the removal of
the rack's HVAC systems.

necessary precautions to observe when moving the racks.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to instruct
employees regarding the necessary precautions to observe when moving the
racks, particularly the associated
hazard of any applied force in the direction of the rack's depth direction.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
