did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm,
including severe burns to
employees in that employees were exposed to a dust deflagration, or other
fire hazards from the
dust collector:
a)In the foam block saw room, on or about June 14, 2010 and at times prior
to, a
Jet model DC-1100 dust collector was used to collect combustible
polyethylene
dust, exposing employees to injuries resulting from a dust deflagration or
other
fire hazards.
ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION ARE
REQUIRED.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to
install a dust collection
system in accordance with NFPA 654 Standard for the Prevention of Fire and
Dust Explosions
from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible
Particulate Solids, 2006
Edition.
