P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of: A) Drug room, on or about November 2, 2011, employees used a Westco hand truck to push poly and metal drums up an incline into a room and then up an incline ramp to place the drums on to a spill proof containment pallet, exposing employees to back injuries and being struck by the hand truck if it rolled backwards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to utilize other material handling devices designed to handle poly containers and carry loads up an incline. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.
