Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) On site at the intersection of Nebraska Ave and Cass St an employee was exposed to an 11 foot fall hazard while working form an elevated area at the rear of a Grove RT 760E truck crane. The employee was not protected from the fall hazard. on or about 12/16/09. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to install guardrails around the cable drum area consistent with height specifications for guardrails in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.451(b)(2)(ii) and or USAS B30.5-1.3.2.2)(ii)
