Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: (a) Jobsite: Bethel Park High School, 309 Church Road, Bethel Park, Pa 15102; On or about April 19, 2010, an employee (oiler) was exposed to crushing hazards while working under/within the swing radius of the superstructure of the #218, Link-Belt crane. The employee was positioned between the tracks of the rotating superstructure of the crane. The crane operator was unable to see the employee while transporting materials from the staging area. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to comply with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B30.5, Section 5-3.1.3.3; Section 5- 3.1.3.3.1(k); and Section 5-3.2.1.5(b)(4). 0 0 y 0 <
