Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls of 60 feet, crushing injuries and struck by hazards: (a) Lenape Golf Course Unit 6H: On or about 02/02/11 employees were operating the hoist with 9/16 wire rope for the Geronimo line. the wire rope was severely corroded; had separation of the wire rope lays, and crushed on the drum due to improper reeving. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to adhere to the requirements of ASME B30.16, "Overhead Hoists" Section 16-2.4 "Rope Inspection, Replacement, and Maintenance".
