Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to severe burn injuries from a dust explosion created by dust collectors located inside a building and by not directing any potential deflagration venting to an outside location: a) Main Building: There was an air material separator (cyclone dust collector) attached to the bandsaw located inside of the building, as observed on or about October 20, 2010. b) Typak Area: There was an air material separator (Grizzly 4 bag enclosureless dust collector) attached to the gang saw located inside of the building, as observed on or about October 20, 2010. c) Typak Area: There was an air material separator (SECO UFO-102B 2 bag enclosureless dust collector) attached to the bandsaw located inside of the building, as observed on or about October 20, 2010. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO FOLLOW THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN NFPA 654. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
