Section 5 (a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which is free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to an employee
in that employees were
exposed to a stuck by hazard:
a) Grading area - Employees were using a Jet Electric Hoist to lift a
cheese dying cart
that was missing the safety latch on the hoist hook, observed on or about
01/06/11.
ABATEMENT NOTE: Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to abate
this hazard
is to replace the safety latch on the Jet Electric Hoist Hook - ASME
B30.16-1.2.9:
