Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from vehicle traffic entering the work zone. Location: Bloomfield & LaFrance Ave. Bloomfield NJ At the intersection of Bloomfield & LaFrance Ave., employees performing work in a manhole located within 15 ft of the intersection were exposed to being struck by motor vehicles using the road. One feasible means of abatement would be to ensure provisions are in place for worker protection at road site work zones, such as establishing a traffic control plan according to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices PART 6. Violation occurred on or about 04/15/2010
