Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard: a. On or about 03/04/10 - 2627 George Wallace Highway, Russellville, AL, the safety latch was missing on the hook for the Simon crane that was used to lift steel beams. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to comply with the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standard, ASME/ANSI B30.10-1993, Hooks, Section 10-1.2.3.
