Vermont 21 VSA Title 23, Chapter 3, Sub-chapter5, Section 223 (a)(1) Of
the Occupational
Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and
a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that they were exposed to
slipping hazards,
St. Albans Cooperative Creamery Inc. 140 Federal St, St. Albans, 05478: on
or before
1August 2012. The flooring throughout the pan room was slippery due to a
new epoxy
coating which had been applied to the floor.  The employer did not perform
a hazard
assessment or provide proper effective personal protective equipment.
Feasible and reasonable means of abatement is to: 1) complete a hazard
assessment of the
work place to determine what hazards are present. 2) Provide proper
PPE(slip resistant
shoes) to employees and train them for proper use. Among other methods, of
feasible and
exceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards would be to place a
less
slippery
coating on the floor.
