Vermont 21 VSA Title 23, Chapter 3, Sub-chapter5, Section 223 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: Garage doors: The two Firehouse overhead garage doors did not have a safety device edge, door stop sensors and proper signage. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to hire a professional to install the safety devices and conduct periodic inspections of the devices. LOCATION: Fire Department, Station VIOLATION: On August 22, 2012, CSHO noted the Shelburne Fire Department overhead doors were not equiped with a safety reverse device, safety edge and warning signs.
