The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to
employees in that:
a) On the West Side of the building: Employees were exposed to a struck by
hazard as
wooden truss were hoisted into potion.  The 41 feet wooden roof truss were
hoisted by
the use of a single chain sling.  The use of a single sling to lift wooden
truss, 30 feet
long may cause lateral bending of the truss.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would
be to use a
spreader bar or stiff back to lift truss in accordance with the Building
Component Safety
Information, Guide to Good Practices for Handling, Installing, Restraining
and Bracing
of Metal Plate Wood Trusses.ing
