Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) The employer does not ensure that fall protection is used while employees work on top of a roof at a height of 20 feet. This violation occurred on January 26 2010, at an advertising sign where an employee was exposed to the hazard of falling to the ground below. Among one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is: 1) provide a safety harness,lanyard and a 5000 pound anchor point to limit the distance of a possible fall to six feet or less.
