Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to impalement hazards from the protruding concrete forming pins: (a) On the corner of Front St. and Market St., Philadelphia - Employees were exposed to impalement hazards from protruding forming pins approximately 1 to 1.5 feet above the formwork. Observed on or about 08/03/10. Among other methods,one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Install caps over forming pins or install forming pins to level of form or grade. NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT REQUIRED.
