Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard by operating a Wilkie Hydraulic Mobile Crane with a wire rope that had numerous broken strands at the hook end: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to repair or replace the wire rope in accordance with Paragraph 5-2.4.3(b)(1)(4) of ASME B30.5-2000.
