Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious

physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
caught-in-between and drowning
hazards:
On or about 9/07/2010, at 4311 NW 16th Street, in Lauderhill, Florida, on
the canal side of the
building, a building known as Bradley Hall, employees were exposed to
crushing and drowning
hazards while operating a riding lawn-mower without Rollover Protection
Systems (ROPS)
installed and near a body of water.
ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct
this hazardous condition would be instruct employees to use the equipment
as specified in the
operator's manual.
PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS
REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
