General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to drowning hazards: On or about 9/14/2010, at 8080 NW 10th Court, in Plantation, Florida, on the canal side of building 14, employees operating Wright Stander ZK (models WSZK52 31KAWE and WSZK61 31KAWE) standing lawn mowers near the body of water were exposed to drowning hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to instruct employees to use the equipment as specified in the operator's manual; and to ensure that lawn mowers are operated away from the edges of the canal banks. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
