Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely
to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
On or about 01/03/2011 an employee was exposed to a fall hazard of
approximately 13 feet
while standing on the top step of a portable step ladder removing holiday
decorations from a
utility pole without means of fall protection at 2346 University Drive,
Coral Springs FL 33065.
Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct the hazard
is to prohibit employees from standing on the top step of portable
stepladders.
