Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to falling while climbing in and out of a scissor lift:
(a) Location - 69 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA:
On or about 03/11/2010, an employee was exposed to falling while climbing
into and out
of a scissor lift.
On or about 03/11/2010, an employee was exposed to the hazard of falling
while
climbing out of and into a scissor lift while it was elevated. Among other
means, one
feasible means of abatement would be to read and follow the manufacturer's
operational
manual in which it states "Avoid falling. Stay within the boundaries of
the guard rails."
