AS 18.60.075(a)(4) General Duty Clause (a) "An employer shall do everything necessary to protect the life, health and safety of employees including but not limited to. (4) Furnishing to each employee, employment and a place of employment that are free from recognized hazards that, in the opinion of the commissioner, are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to the employee". Example: An employee was crushed between the operator's station on the Volvo Model WG-64 Collection truck and the rear of a 826G trash compactor. The victim was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. The employer failed to provided a place of employment free of recognized hazards.
