Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to falls:
a) 575 Washington Blvd, Jersey City, NJ
Three window washers in boatswain's chairs were not properly anchored, in
that
the rigging line and the life line were not independent of each other and
each
chair was not using its own anchorage point.  Additionally, two of the
window
washers had damaged lanyards as part of their fall protection system.
Violation was observed on or about 4/24/10.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO:
1.  Ensure that all components of the fall protection system, such as, but
not
limited to lanyards
and harnesses are free of damage.
2.  Ensure that the life line and the chair rigging are anchored
separately (not as one unit) and
that only one chair is anchored to one anchor at a time.r
