Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by: (a) Craig, MT: An employee was struck-by a moving vehicle while riding on the side of a 1993 White garbage truck with Montana license #2C6005 between garbage stops when he slipped from the step and was struck by the right front tire. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is follow the requirements set forth in the ANSI Z245.1-1992, Section 6.2.1 as to not allowing employees to ride on the side of vehicles. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item.
