b)First Bay area, on or about 10/25/2010, A Shepard Niles 5-ton overhead
electric overhead hoist was being operated to hoist bundles of steel
without
a safety latch on the hoist hook and no frequent inspections had not been
performed by an operator or other designated person.
c)Third Bay area, on or about 10/25/2010, An American Monorail, 3-ton
overhead electric overhead hoist  was being operated to hoist bundles of
steel
without a safety latch on the hoist hook and no frequent inspections had
not
been performed by an operator or other designated person.
Among other methods, several feasible and acceptable abatement methods to
correct
this hazard are to:
1.Conduct frequent inspections during operation of the of the hoists for
missing
or defective equipment in accordance with ANSI B30.10-1993, Hooks and
ANSI B30.16-1993 Overhead Hoists.
2.Repair or replace the safety latches and ensure they meet the
requirement of
the manufacturer's operation manual, ANSI B30.10-1993, Hooks, and ANSI
B30.16.-1993, Overhead Hoists.
Abatement certification must be submitted for these items.
