North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries: a)establishment, fabrication shop - no periodic inspections were conducted to ensure that safe guards were in safe operating conditions and proper adjustment on the Chicago Dreis & Krump mechanical press brake, model 68, serial number L13530, to protect employees from contact with the point of operation. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to develop a program of periodic and regular inspections in accordance with the Operator's Instruction Manual No. ADI-9006 which includes ANSI B11.3-1982, section 5.1.4. Reference:Operator's Instruction Manual No. ADI-9006 which includes the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) B11.3-1982, section 5.1.4 - Inspection and Maintenance Records.
