North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from elevation: a)"Tunnel" blood loading area - On or about 7/23/10 an employee was working without fall protection on top of a trailer, transferring turkey blood from a holding tank to his trailer/tank when he fell 10 feet striking the concrete floor below. Abatement note: One means of abatement would be to purchase or fabricate a trailer access platform with a guardrail system.
