a) For the establishment located at 15431 Flight Path Dr., Brooksville, FL
34604, as
observed on or about 04/08/2010: Two Donaldson Torrit cartridge dust
collectors
were used: model numbers DFO 2-8 and DFO 2-12 respectively. Neither was
equipped with deflagration venting panels directed to an unoccupied area
or with a
suppression system. The collectors were located inside an occupied area
which
employees entered to conduct maintenance on a daily basis.
ABATEMENT NOTE(S): Among other methods, means of feasible and acceptable
abatement include compliance with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA
654)
"Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the
manufacturing,
processing, and handling of combustible particulate solids" (2006
edition), NFPA 69
"Standard on Explosion Prevention Systems" (2008 edition), and NFPA 68
"Standard
on Explosion Protection by Deflagration Venting" (2007 edition). These
requirements
include but may not be limited to:
1) Install deflagration venting on dust collectors, directed to an
unoccupied
area through straight ducts not exceeding 20 ft.
