were exposed to crushing and/or struck-by hazards:
(a) Service bay, lift #001867, for employees utilizing the lift during
vehicle servicing
operations with exposure to potential crushing and/or struck-by hazards
where the lateral
arm restraint mechanisms had been removed from the lift.
(b) Service bay, lift #001867, for employees utilizing the lift during
vehicle servicing
operations with exposure to potential crushing and/or struck-by hazards
where a
telescoping arm lock was non-functioning.
Abatement Note:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would
be
to
follow the requirements of ANSI/ALI ALOIM and/or ANSI B153.1 which
includes,
among other requirements, the following:
1.Institute a preventive maintenance program according to the
manufacturer's
specifications.
2.Provide training to employees on proper use and care of the lifts.
3.Ensure all lifts are rated and marked with their load capacity.
4.Schedule and complete all periodic and annual inspections.
