Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:11/15/10 Location:Rooftop of House Condition:Employees working on the roof were not protected from falling approximately 30 feet to ground. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install a utilize a fall protection system in accordance with 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M, OSHA Construction Industry Regulations. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.

Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) Date of Violation: 11/15/10 Location: Front of House Condition: The side rails of the ladder were located approximately 3 inches above the edge of the roof. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to use a ladder system that is in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): When portable ladders are used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails shall extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access; or, when such an extension is not possible because of the ladder's length, then the ladder shall be secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect, and a grasping device, such as a grabrail, shall be provided to assist employees in mounting and dismounting the ladder. In no case shall the extension be such that ladder deflection under load would, by itself, cause the ladder to slip off its support.
