Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the following: a.At the worksite on or about April 25, 2011, employees were performing repairs and adjustments to new heating systems constructed of steel pipe. The employer did not ensure that employees released the air pressure from heating systems, before employees performed any work on the systems, exposing employees to a struck by hazard. Compressed air was forced into the system for testing purposes. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this include, but are not limited to the following, adhere to the guidelines in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z244.1-2003, Control of Hazardous Energy, Lockout/Tagout and Alternative Methods; instruct employees on the company's written program for lockout/tagout and the safe procedures for bleeding down the air pressure from a pipe system.e
