Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Bays 5 & 6: Employees were exposed to struck-by/crush hazards as employees were allowed to operate an automotive lift without receiving training and certification per the American National Standard, ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000, Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection and Maintenance. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED Among other methods, another feasible means of abatement would be to follow the American National Standard Institute section 4 to ensure that all employees operating the automotive lift have the proper knowledge and qualifications prior to operation.ions
