recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) At the hatchway access to the roof of a building in the apartment
complex located at
3200 Lakeview Place, SW Atlanta, GA- The employer did not ensure that the
hatch was
properly hinged with standard strength and support to prevent the hatch
from falling,
exposing maintenance employees to struck by and or amputations hazards.
Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others, to correct this
hazard are:
1. Installation of hinges in order to prevent the hatch from falling over.
2. Company can replace the old hatch for a new hatch with hinges.
3. Prohibit employees to attempt to access the roof by using the
unsupported hatch.
4. Accessing the roof from outside of the building by the use of a ladder
or man lift.
