Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that
were causing or
likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to
chemical hazards:
(a)Qvest at 5905 E. 42nd Ave., Denver, CO 80216:  On or before 02/25/11,
the employer
did not segregate incompatible chemicals in the chemical storage room, in
that a 150
gallon barrel of Acid Brite #2, with a pH of 1.9, was stored adjacent to a
150 gallon
barrel of Liquik 4, with a pH of 12.2.  Although the barrels were
double-walled, they
did not have secondary containment beyond the barrel periphery to contain
spills.   The
employees were not trained regarding the safe configuration of the
chemical barrel setup.
Condition exposed employees to chemical inhalation and burn hazards.
One feasible means of abatement is to segregate the containers to maximize
the
distance
between incompatible barrels of chemicals, and to use secondary
containment for spills.
