Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the lifted load: (a)On or about 10/19/10 - 32800 Highway 72, Hollywood, AL, the safety latch for the hook on the lifting device was inoperable in that the spring was missing from the safety latch and the latch was taped back to the hook. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to perform frequent inspections of hooks and repair or remove damaged hooks from service.
