potential for a combustible dust explosion, deflagration, and/or fire
which did not have explosion
protection systems:
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this
hazard are:
1.Add explosion protection systems to the Flexicon supply process,
blending process, and
exhaust ventilation such as, but not limited to, deflagration venting,
deflagration
suppression, explosion relief valves, flame front diverters, flashback
arrestors, or
isolation valves;
2.Segregate or separate the Flexicon supply process and blending process
from other
operations, such as but not limited to, the extrusion operation with
surface temperatures.
3.Conduct and implement the recommendations of a process hazards analysis,
completed
by an individual knowledgeable about combustible dust and NFPA
654,Prevention of Fire
and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of
Combustible
Particulate Solids, and/or comply with the prescriptive provision of
Chapters 6 through
12 of NFPA 654.
