Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El
patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
In the warehouse of Mar-Co Industries Corp., located in Fajardo PR, where
employees collected
merchandise among other things it was observed that the merchandise was
stored on rack D with
visible damage on rack components that compromised their integrity and
presented a hazard of
merchandise and/or racks falling over the employees.  It was documented
that the boxes stored
on the racks weighted up to 20 pounds each one.
Hazard: Employees exposed to being struck, by merchandise boxes as a
result of rack collapse.
Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is replace
the damaged storage
shelving, or stacks merchandise only in the lower level of the rack system.
En el almacen de Mar-Co Industries Corp, localizado en Fajardo PR, donde
los empleados
acarreaban mercancia entre otras cosas, se observo que la mercancia era
almacenada en el
sistema de estanteria D el cual tenia danos visibles en los componentes de
los estantes, lo que
comprometia la integridad de los mismos y presentaba un riesgo de que el
estante y/o mercancia
cayese sobre los empleados.  Se documento que las cajas que se almacenaban
en los estantes
llegaban a pesar hasta 20 libras cada una.
Riesgo: Empleados expuestos a ser golpeados por cajas de mercancia como
resultado del colapso
del estante.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo viable para reducir este riesgo es
reemplazar el estante de
almacenaje danados o acomodar mercancia solamente en el nivel mas bajo del
sistema de estante.
